As I sit to write my annual I’m Gonnas, it occurs to me I have no immediate resolve. If I were a hotel room, I’d be skipping this floor. But the year must flip over.
Normally I have plenty on my I’m Gonna list. Last year I was still working at editing my garden, Helen’s Haven and writing my book, Gardening with Confidence®–50 Ways to add style for personal creativity.
This year my future isn’t as clear. I have an “I’m Gonna” gap.
The major garden editing of Helen’s Haven is complete and I’m very pleased with it. Even today, I looked around to recalled the work performed and a moment of clarity and calmness came over me. I finally have a garden I can grow with. The big push to add a sense of wonder to Helen’s Have will continue, but the pace will be with a slow, steady hand.
50 More ways is quasi being written, at the same time I’m talking with a couple of publishing houses about another book idea. I’m gonna let what may unfold and be prepared by having a place for it to spread out. To say last year was a bit of an overcommitment would be a major understatement.
For 2013 I’m gonna put one foot in front of the other and continue on in a place of peace. The frantic pace of 2012 is behind me. It was more than the book and the garden; I had an interesting year all around.
I’ll continue to write quality content for my blog on a weekly basis. Last year I worked on the blog’s re-design, making a renewed commitment to bring fresh ideas to my Gardening with Confidence readers. I’ll continue to write about gardens for my magazine editors, and will continue to contribute to other writer’s books (I contributed to 3 books in 2012!) These assignments are my bread and butter, and they are what keep me going as a writer. I absolutely love what I do.
Thank you for reading my blog. It means a lot to me. Happy 2013.
