Beth Jimenez and Amelia Lane of Lasting Impressions are offering workshops in both Hypertufa trough making and Concrete leaf sculptures this spring and summer.

The troughs are versatile planting containers made to mimic the look of the stone troughs used to water livestock in England centuries ago. They are lightweight, offer good drainage, can be used on decks, patios and in the garden, and easily weather our winters in North Carolina. What a wonderful way to highlight and protect your special plants!

Learn the steps to making troughs from mixing the ingredients, forming the trough, and finally releasing the finished planter. All materials are provided and you will take your finished trough home with you.

Hypertufa trough workshops: 9am to 12 noon on Tuesday, March 9th; Saturday, March 13th; or Tuesday, June 22nd.

The concrete leaf sculptures are made using real leaves. The concrete mixture will pick up every detail of the leaf, making each sculpture unique!

Learn the process of hand casting leaves in concrete from mixing the ingredients, forming the base for the mold, casting and unmolding the leaf, to tips for painting your sculpture after it has cured. All materials are provided and you will take your leaf sculpture home with you.

Leaf sculpture workshops: 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, March 9th; Saturday, March 13th; or Tuesday, June 22nd.
